Islamabad traffic police issues advisory for Indonesian President's visit

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad traffic police has issued a special traffic advisory ahead of the Indonesian president’s official visit to Pakistan from December 8-9.

The advisory has been released to guide citizens and help them avoid traffic jams during the important movement.

According to the traffic police, traffic will remain heavier than normal on 8 December between 11 AM and 12 PM, and again on 9 December from 9 PM to 10 PM. These timings are fixed for the movement of the visiting delegation, and because of security arrangements, several major routes in the city may face slow traffic.

Officials shared that Faisal Avenue, Express Highway, and Srinagar Highway will be the most affected Roads.

People using these routes are advised to plan their travel earlier and choose alternative roads whenever possible.

The police have also requested citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during these hours.

The advisory further states that Express Chowk and Marriott Gate, two important entry points to Islamabad’s Red Zone will remain closed during the movement.

For entering the Red Zone citizens should use the Serena Road, NADRA Road, or Margalla Road, as these will remain open for public use.

Special instructions have also been issued for people traveling between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. People coming from Rawalpindi to Islamabad should use Rawal Road, 9th Avenue, Faqeer Aipee Road, or Srinagar Highway.

Those going from Islamabad to Rawalpindi should travel through Zero Point, then take Srinagar Highway and connect to 9th Avenue.

For residents coming from Murree or Bhara Kahu, traffic police have suggested using Korang Road, Bani Gala Road, Park Road, or Lethrar Road to enter Islamabad.

The police have requested full cooperation from the public. They said that these temporary measures are necessary to ensure smooth traffic flow and proper security during the Indonesian president’s visit. Citizens have been advised to stay updated and follow instructions shared by the authorities.
