Lahore has banned heavy bikes from the CBD Main Boulevard, Gulberg.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore said that the boulevard is a no-go area for heavy bikers.
This aims to prevent groups of riders from using the road for racing.
It is pertinent to mention that this decision was taken following complaints about street racing, excessive noise, and dangerous riding from residents of the surrounding areas.
The CTO also urged parents to monitor young motorcyclists and discourage them from taking part in racing and one-wheeling
Lately, the traffic police have increased enforcement against riders who exceed speed limits or violate other road safety rules.
The police will take legal action against riders who ignore police instructions.
The latest restriction specifically targets CBD Main Boulevard, which has become a popular spot for riders due to its wide roads and modern infrastructure.
Motorcyclists are advised to avoid the restricted route and follow the instructions of traffic wardens.
Meanwhile, the City Traffic Police has announced a crackdown on public transport vehicles, taxis, rickshaws, and online ride-hailing services that fail to install QR panic buttons and other mandatory security features after July 1.
The move is aimed at strengthening passenger safety through the adoption of modern security measures.
Vehicles found without QR panic buttons and other mandatory security features after the deadline will face legal action.
