The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has issued an important directive to eligible women, urging those with expired identity cards to renew them immediately. Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of BISP, advised all eligible women enrolled in the programme to check the validity of their National Identity Cards (NICs).
She directed women whose identity cards have expired to visit the nearest National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) centre without delay to have them renewed. According to Senator Rubina Khalid, failure to renew identity cards promptly could cause difficulties or delays in receiving quarterly stipends.
She advised eligible women not to wait until their identity cards expire and to complete the renewal process immediately if their cards have already expired. BISP issued the directive to prevent eligible women from facing difficulties in receiving their stipends. Women have been advised to check the validity of their identity cards and contact NADRA promptly if renewal is required.
On the other hand, the last date for deserving women registered with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to obtain a free SIM has reportedly been set for September 10, 2026. The initiative aims to activate the Social Protection Wallet for eligible women and make future financial assistance payments more transparent, secure and efficient. According to BISP, free SIMs are being issued only through designated BISP centres, while the activation of the digital wallet is carried out by trained BISP staff.
Eligible women are required to take their original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and mobile phone to the nearest BISP Tehsil Office or designated centre. After completing the verification process, they will be issued a free SIM. BISP has clarified that applicants should not pay any money to anyone for the SIM, as the service is completely free.
