The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has imposed departmental penalties on 75 employees in Islamabad over various irregularities. According to an FIA spokesperson, nine employees were dismissed from service, eight were demoted, and 58 received other departmental penalties.
The spokesperson said the employees were given personal hearings in connection with public complaints and other departmental matters. All those facing disciplinary action were also allowed to present their positions. The penalties were imposed after a review of relevant records and available evidence.
The spokesperson said the action was part of the agency’s efforts to strengthen accountability and discipline, while high-performing employees were also encouraged and recognised for their work. According to the spokesperson, the Director of the FIA Islamabad Zone presented certificates of appreciation to three officers in recognition of their outstanding performance. The Director reiterated that there would be zero tolerance for indiscipline and corruption within the organisation.
On the other hand, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested more than 35 agents and registered cases against 22 suspects as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) apostille service.
FIA teams have carried out raids on offices allegedly linked to what investigators describe as an “apostille verification mafia” in several Islamabad markets, including Aabpara Market, Liberty Plaza and Sitara Market. Several employees working at the offices have been detained and questioned as part of the investigation.
According to FIA sources, suspects taken into custody during the operation provided information about Foreign Ministry officials allegedly connected to the scheme. The agency subsequently arrested two officials, identified as Samiullah and Director Qaiser, who are being questioned.
