The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced plans to build Pakistan’s longest zipline in the Margalla Hills. This will be a major new adventure tourism project in Islamabad.
The purpose of the project is to promote tourism and adventure sports in the federal capital.

According to the CDA, the zipline will be 2.83 kilometres long.
Where will the Margalla zipline be built?
It will be built across the Margalla Hills between the Daman-e-Koh area and the site of the former Monal Restaurant.
The project is expected to give visitors a new way to enjoy the natural beauty of the Margalla Hills.
What are the start and end points of the Margalla zipline?
One of the main features of the project is its design. The zipline will start and end at the same location.
This means that the visitors will not need another vehicle or separate journey to return after the ride.
CDA officials said that the project will offer local and foreign tourists a chance to enjoy the scenic views of the Margalla Hills.
They added that the project will also help introduce international-standard adventure tourism in Islamabad.
Margalla Hills
The Margalla Hills are the famous green backdrop of Islamabad. They are part of the Margalla Hills National Park and are made up of rugged limestone terrain.
The hills are located at the western end of the Himalayas. They have an average height of around 1,000 metres. Their highest point is Tilla Charouni, which rises to 1,604 metres.
Recently, a wildfire broke out in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills. Fires were reported at two separate locations, including the Mangial area.
Thick plumes of smoke rose from the hills. They were visible across parts of the capital.
Due to the intense heat and dry weather conditions at the time, the fire kept growing and spreading.
