A little girl and her mother were also among those martyred in a suicide terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday. The incident has sparked grief and concern among residents. The martyrdom of the mother and her little daughter has also drawn attention to the plight of civilian victims of terrorism, with questions being raised about the KP government’s response and support for affected families.
The family is mourning the loss as authorities continue efforts to investigate the attack and bring those responsible to justice. Unfortunately, she is not on the priority list of her KP Chief Minister and provincial government. It is worth mentioning here that twelve people were martyred and nearly 30 others were injured in a suicide blast near a Customs check post in Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Zia-ud-Din Ahmed, the attack was carried out using a tractor-trolley laden with explosives. The powerful explosion damaged the Customs check post and nearby buildings.
Providing details of the incident, the DPO said a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated in front of the Customs post while personnel were on duty. The blast affected Customs and Excise officials as well as civilians from the surrounding locality.
Preliminary reports indicate that around 12 people were martyred, most of them Customs and Excise personnel, along with some residents. The DPO said nearly 30 people were injured in the blast. Some of the injured were shifted to Mufti Mehmood Hospital, while others were taken to different medical facilities for treatment.
According to DPO Zia-ud-Din Ahmed, police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) teams launched an operation immediately after the attack. He said he reached the scene within 10 minutes along with the CTD SP.
