Pakistan will face arch-rival India in the semi-final of the hockey event at the 2026 Asian Games. Pakistan has secured their place in the semi-finals with a 7-2 victory over Oman, while India booked their spot by defeating Bangladesh. The ‘Final Four’ lineup for the Asian Games hockey event is now complete. Pakistan will take on India on October 1, while Malaysia will face South Korea in the other semi-final.
In their final Pool B match, Pakistan defeated Oman 7-2. Rana Waheed scored a hat-trick, while Sufyan Khan netted two goals. Ghazanfar Ali and Muhammad Imad scored one goal each. Pakistan won four of their five Pool B matches, with their only defeat coming against Malaysia.
Across five matches, Pakistan scored 28 goals and conceded eight. In the final Pool A match, India defeated Bangladesh by a 10-goal margin to finish at the top of the group. On the other hand, Pakistan Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem failed to win a medal in the javelin throw event at the Asian Games, with Sri Lanka’s Romesh Pathirage claiming the gold medal.
Arshad delivered a below-par performance, with four of his six attempts being unsuccessful. His best throw measured 80.29 metres, which was also his season-best effort. Pathirage won the gold medal with a throw of 88.55 metres. India’s Yashvir Singh secured the silver medal, while Rohit Yadav finished third to take bronze. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ansar Abbas also failed to win a medal in the long jump event.
