The District Health Office (DHO) Islamabad has expanded free Hepatitis C screening, diagnosis and treatment services to several public health facilities across the capital under the Prime Minister’s National Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C.

According to media reports, residents can now access free Hepatitis C-related services at Rural Health Centres in Tarlai, Bhara Kahu and Sihala, as well as Community Health Centres in Rawat and Shah Allah Ditta. The services are also available at Basic Health Centres in Sohan and Golra Sharif.

The expansion is aimed at improving early detection and ensuring timely treatment of Hepatitis C, particularly by making screening and healthcare services more accessible through primary healthcare facilities.

The DHO said government health facilities across Islamabad were providing free medical consultations, screening and other available services related to Hepatitis C. Health authorities stressed that Hepatitis C is preventable, diagnosable and treatable, and that early screening and appropriate treatment can significantly reduce the risk of serious health complications.

Citizens have been advised to visit their nearest government health facility for screening and medical consultation, particularly if they believe they may have been exposed to the virus or have health concerns.

The DHO also urged residents to follow preventive measures and cooperate with healthcare workers as part of ongoing efforts to reduce the spread and impact of Hepatitis C in the capital. The initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to expand access to Hepatitis C screening and treatment services and support the national goal of eliminating the disease.
