Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected the speculative reporting by Reuters regarding the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, urging the media outlet to rely on official statements instead of unnamed sources.
In a fact-check issued, the ministry reiterated that Pakistan’s commitment to the security of the Haramain Sharifain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is clear and non-negotiable.
The ministry said the operational details concerning the implementation of collective deterrence are confidential and should not become the subject of media speculation.
“Operational details of the actualisation of the collective deterrence are a matter of operational confidentiality,” the ministry said, adding that such details may not be made public.
The ministry advised Reuters to avoid reports based on non-attributable and unidentified sources, saying it would be more appropriate for the news agency to refer to official statements issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant authorities.
It also invited Reuters to direct any queries to the concerned authorities rather than publishing what it described as “invented numbers and details.”
