Passengers alert: All bus stands sealed in Lahore

Tahir • October 11, 2026 • Pakistan

Authorities have sealed all general bus terminals and D-class bus stands in Lahore, disrupting passenger travel across the city.

According to reports, the administration sealed the bus stands late at night and ordered transport companies to vacate the premises without providing any reasons for the sudden action.

The unexpected closure has caused serious difficulties for passengers, leaving many uncertain about their travel arrangements.

Some buses arriving from southern Punjab reached D-class bus stands despite the closures, while the sudden shutdown disrupted transport services and passenger movement across Lahore.

Passengers travelling to and from the city are facing inconvenience due to the closure of the terminals.

The authorities have not yet provided an official explanation for sealing the bus stands.

Metro bus service suspended in twin cities

The Metro Bus service connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi partially suspended following instructions from the district administration.

Reportedly, bus operations have been stopped between Kashmir Highway and Pak Secretariat.

However, the service between Saddar Station in Rawalpindi and Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station remains operational.

The suspension is expected to affect passengers who regularly use the Metro Bus to travel between the twin cities.

Metro Bus officials confirmed that the decision was taken on the directions of the district administration.

Which Metro bus routes are open and closed?

Passengers travelling from Kashmir Highway towards Pak Secretariat will not be able to use the Metro Bus service on the suspended section.

Meanwhile, commuters travelling between Saddar and Faiz Ahmed Faiz can continue using the operational part of the route.

Students, office workers and other commuters rely on the bus service daily because it provides an affordable and convenient alternative to private vehicles.

The partial closure could increase demand for other transport options, during busy travel hours.

Passengers advised to plan journeys

People travelling to areas affected by the suspension may need to arrange alternative transport.

However, travellers should allow additional time because traffic restrictions may also affect surrounding roads.

The authorities have not announced a confirmed reopening time for the suspended buses.

Further updates are expected from the relevant transport authorities as the situation develops.

Peshawar to Rawalpindi train timings

Previously, travellers heading from Peshawar to Rawalpindi may faced difficulties as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march raises concerns about possible road closures.

Reports suggest that authorities have restricted traffic on the M-1 Peshawar Motorway.

Pakistan Railways offered another option for passengers who need to reach Rawalpindi on urgent basis.

Jaffar Express, Awam Express, Rehman Baba Express and Khyber Mail leave Peshawar Cantt Railway Station at different times, giving passengers morning, afternoon and late night travel options.
