Peshawar schools to remain open on October 13, as DC rejects holiday news

Schools and colleges in Peshawar will remain open on Tuesday, 13 October.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) dismissed a fake notification circulating on social media that claimed further closures.

DC Peshawar urged students, parents and the public to ignore the misleading notice and rely on official sources for updates.

In a statement published on the DC Peshawar’s official Facebook page, the administration confirmed that all public and private educational institutions in the provincial capital would operate as usual on Tuesday.

Schools and colleges remained closed on Monday amid roadblocks and unrest following the imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and an emergency in several districts, according to the information provided.

Section 144 remains in force

Meanwhile, Section 144 remains in force in Peshawar. The restrictions, imposed for seven days, prohibit public gatherings and limit the display of weapons and items that could be used for violence.

TransPeshawar, the operator of the city’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, has also confirmed that services will resume on all routes according to their regular schedules from Tuesday.

Dera Ismail (DI) Khan schools to remain closed

The situation differs in other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

All public and private educational institutions in Dera Ismail Khan, including schools, colleges and universities, will remain closed on Tuesday under orders issued by the district’s deputy commissioner.

Examinations scheduled for the day have also been cancelled.

Separately, education authorities in Punjab have dismissed fake notifications circulating online about school closures, confirming that educational institutions across the province will continue operating according to their regular schedules.

Authorities have urged the public to verify announcements through official channels to avoid confusion caused by misleading social media posts.
