Lahore police have been directed to tighten security outside girls colleges and universities and take strict action against boys loitering in the area.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Operations, Muhammad Faisal Kamran, gave a warning that the unnecessary presence of boys around the institutions will not be tolerated.

The move follows concerns raised by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz over crimes against women and children.

She has reportedly given police four weeks to improve law and order, warning that officers who fail to deliver could be removed from their posts.

Faisal Kamran instructed police officers to strengthen security around educational institutions to protect female students.

Police have also been directed to take strict action against boys gathering unnecessarily outside girls’ colleges and universities in Lahore.

During the meeting, the DIG ordered officers to prioritise the resolution of registered cases involving women and children.

He also called for increased police patrols and an effective strategy to tackle street crime and theft.

He directed officers to take immediate action to arrest proclaimed offenders and habitual criminals, while ordering search-and-sweep operations around private hotels, major stadiums and key routes.

With cricket matches approaching, Kamran instructed officials to complete security and logistical arrangements in advance.

He also ordered security cordons along team routes and around hotels and stadiums to ensure the safety of players and other visitors.

The directives come amid calls from the provincial government for improved law enforcement and stronger protection for women and children.
