The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has banned smoking in its offices, guest houses and open areas across Pakistan as part of efforts to promote a healthier environment.
The ban covers all forms of smoking and tobacco-related products, including conventional cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vapes, hookah, heated tobacco products and other smoking devices.
According to the directive, violations of the ban may result in disciplinary action against those found breaching the rules.
The HEC has also urged educational institutions to take effective measures to ensure that their campuses remain clean, healthy and smoke-free.
The move aims to discourage smoking and the use of tobacco-related products in educational and official settings while promoting a healthier atmosphere for students, faculty members, employees and visitors.
The directive applies to the commission’s offices and guest houses, as well as designated open areas covered by the order, reinforcing the HEC’s emphasis on maintaining smoke-free public and educational spaces nationwide.
