A video showing electricity poles standing in the middle of an under-construction road connecting Qasimabad with Hyderabad has gone viral on social media, raising concerns among residents about public safety and road planning.

The poles could pose a risk of accidents once the road is opened to traffic, prompting questions about the arrangements being made to ensure the safety of commuters.

The video has also drawn criticism of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which governs Sindh, with social media users questioning the province’s development model and the planning of infrastructure projects.

Responding to the concerns, Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro said the road was still under construction and that the project included relocating electricity poles.

According to the mayor, the relocation of 162 electricity poles is part of the project, while work on shifting electricity feeders is also underway.

He urged residents not to use the road until construction is completed and it is formally inaugurated. The mayor said the road was expected to open to the public by the end of November.

The viral video has sparked debate over infrastructure planning and safety measures, with residents stressing that all necessary work, including the relocation of electricity poles, should be completed before the road is opened to traffic.
