Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has extended its suspension of new domestic gas connections indefinitely amid disruptions to imported gas supplies and a widening shortfall as winter demand increases.
The restriction has also reportedly been extended to commercial connections, including those for hotels and tandoors, from November.
According to reports published on 1 November, thousands of consumers are still waiting for connections despite having paid urgent processing fees. No date has been announced for the resumption of new connections.
The suspension is linked to disruptions in the supply of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG), which is used to supplement gas available in the domestic distribution network.
With temperatures falling, demand has increased, making it difficult for the company to maintain supplies even to existing domestic consumers.
SNGPL officials were quoted as saying that the restriction had been imposed by the Ministry of Petroleum.
They indicated that new connections were unlikely to resume until the Iran-US conflict ended and supply conditions improved.
The government had also suspended new connections earlier in 2026 because of RLNG supply difficulties.
Thousands of applicants who paid urgent processing charges are reportedly still waiting for their connections.
The indefinite suspension means that payment of an urgent fee does not guarantee installation while the restriction remains in place. Applicants have not been given a confirmed date for when their connections will be installed.
Consumers should keep their application reference numbers, demand notices and payment receipts.
They can use SNGPL’s official tracking service or contact the company through its helpline, 1199, for updates.

Under this published structure, the basic charges were Rs21,500 for a house up to 10 marla and Rs23,000 for a larger house, excluding any applicable additional costs. The urgent fee was separate.
The security deposit was refundable, while the service line cost was a separate charge. Applicants could also face expenses for internal house-line installation and other requirements.
These figures are based on SNGPL’s previously published RLNG connection information. They should not be treated as confirmation that applications or payments are currently being accepted during the latest suspension.
RLNG connections also carry a different gas tariff from conventional domestic system-gas connections, meaning consumers may face different monthly bills.
