Karachi Sewage Project: Pakistan and EIB sign 60 million euros’ deal

BRUSSELS: A recent significant deal has been signed between Pakistan and the European Investment Bank (EIB). They signed a contract of sixty million dollars for a new Karachi Sewage Project.

This project is designed to enhance the sanitation and health of the citizens in the city.

Moreover, the scheme will be used to address the local environment and sea cleaning.

EIB will be funding to support this massive project. It is particularly sponsoring the Greater Karachi Bulk Sewage Scheme or S-III.

Officials praised the new partnership during the contract signing ceremony. According to them, this investment will change the lives of millions of people.

In addition, the project will also bring modernization of ageing waste systems in the city. Such an effort will also minimize the chances of water-borne illnesses.

Significance of the Deal

The deal enhances the relationship between Pakistan and the European Union. The project will commence shortly with the government.

Poor drainage and sewage have been a major challenge to the residents.

This new funding is therefore a greater relief to the community. The EIB is still a strategic ally in the development process of Pakistan.

This acquisition is one of the major milestones towards the future development of Karachi. It demonstrates a strong devotion to sustainable urban development.
