Web desk: The UK police have announced two new charges of rape and sexual assault against British comedian and actor Russell Brand.
Brand, 50, had already pleaded not guilty in May to five charges. One account was of rape, one of oral rape, and two of sexual assault, and one of indecent assault, between years 1999 and 2005.
“These new charges involve two additional women and are in addition to the charges issued in April 2025, which involved four women,” the Metropolitan Police said.
The statement added that the total number of women involved in the case is now six following further investigations.
Russell Brand
Brand has been summoned to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20 to face the new charges. A trial on the original five charges is set to begin at Southwark Crown Court on June 16.
Serious sexual abuse allegations against Russell Brand first came to light through an investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches programme and the Sunday Times newspaper.
Several women who interacted with Brand between 1999 and 2005 described what they say was a pattern of predatory behaviour by the former comedian and TV presenter.
Brand has denied the allegations, which include raping a woman in Bournemouth in 1999, indecently assaulting a woman in 2001. Orally raping and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004, and sexually assaulting another woman between 2004 and 2005.
The last three cases are alleged to have occurred in Westminster, London.
Jemima Khan
The British comedian is also Jemima Khan’s ex. Jemima Khan is the ex-wife of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Brand and Jemima Khan reportedly ended their relationship after just over a year of dating in 2014.
The couple was said to have unfollowed each other on Twitter. A source told the Mail that “the relationship’s simply run its course.”
Netizens have questioned this link. One commented, ”Isn’t he Jemima’s ex as well? Funny pattern though. Almost every one of her exes somehow ends up being proclaimed innocent victims once they’re facing serious criminal charges. Imran Khan sitting in jail today is just the latest example.”
