Two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams will be sold during the PSL franchise auction.

It will take place at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. The league will expand to eight teams starting from its 11th edition, which will be held in 2026.

The 11th edition of the PSL is set to run from March 26 to May 3, 2026. It overlaps with the Indian Premier League in the April-May window.

The tournament will feature a revised format to fit eight teams into 39 days. The matches are potentially spread across additional venues, including Faisalabad.

PSL brand ambassador 2026

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the appointment of legendary former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram as the brand ambassador of the HBL PSL.

He said the star will also attend the auction for two new PSL franchises, scheduled to be held on January 8.

“The best thing for the PSL and the PSL brand is that Wasim Akram has been appointed as the brand ambassador. From January 1, he will officially take on this role,” he said.

“Not only that, he is also organising key aspects of the auction. There will be an international auctioneer, and Wasim Akram will be actively involved as well,” Naqvi further added.

Ali Tareen in PSL 11

The PCB chief also said that the Multan Sultans franchise will be auctioned after the conclusion of the next PSL season.

He added that the team will be operated by the PCB itself during PSL 11. Naqvi clarified that Ali Tareen would be eligible to own a new franchise if he emerges as the successful bidder.

Previously, Ali Tareen reportedly joined the race to acquire new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises.

The Tareen Group will compete alongside 11 other companies from Pakistan, the UAE, the United States, Australia, and Canada.

This comes after Ali Tareen’s exit from Multan Sultans. The auction is scheduled for January 8 at the Islamabad Convention Centre.
