Web Desk: Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq met India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in Dhaka on the sidelines of the funeral of Ex-PM Khalida Zia.
The meeting took place at the residence of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaled Zia.
As per reports, said Indian minister greeted Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and personally walked over to him, which the NA Speaker reciprocated with a smile.
During the short interaction, both leaders exchanged pleasantries and inquired about each other’s well-being. Welcoming remarks were also shared between the two sides.
This encounter was the first face-to-face interaction between senior leaders of Pakistan and India following the recent war between the two countries.
Ayaz Sadiq to attend Khalda Zia’s funeral in Bangladesh today
Earlier it was reported that Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, after particular instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has traveled to Bangladesh today to attend the funeral prayers of ex-Bangladesh prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq represented the government and the people of Pakistan at the funeral ceremony of the former prime minister of Bangladesh, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 80. The speaker of the National Assembly also shared condolences with Begum Khaleda Zia’s family in his capacity as a representative of Pakistan.
The National Assembly speaker met the senior leaders of Bangladesh’s interim government during his stay in Dhaka. These engagements fall under Pakistan’s official diplomatic initiative after the death of Bangladesh’s most influential figure.
The Government of Pakistan extended sympathies over Khaleda Zia’s unfortunate death. Pakistan, as a country, describes Khaleda Zia’s passing as a major loss for Bangladesh and the entire South Asian region. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar paid tribute to the former Bangladesh prime minister and expressed deep sorrow to her family.
