Islamabad: Government employees are being offered big relief as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has approved a series of measures aimed at enhancing the welfare of police personnel and their families. The decisions are intended to boost the professional capabilities of officers while improving their quality of life.
The announcements were made during a senior-level meeting of the National Police Foundation, chaired by Minister Naqvi. Officials agreed on initiatives designed to support officers at multiple stages of their careers.
One key decision allows Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) in training at the National Police Academy to receive residential plots on easy, low-cost instalments. The measure is intended to help young officers secure housing and plan their futures without financial strain.
The meeting also approved sending ten police inspectors, sub-inspectors, and assistant sub-inspectors abroad each year on scholarships for professional training. Officials said the initiative will provide exposure to modern policing techniques and international standards, benefiting the overall police system.
In addition, the Foundation will provide financial assistance to support higher education for the children of 15 constables, covering tuition and admission to top Pakistani universities. The measure aims to relieve officers of concerns regarding their children’s education.
Senior officers of SP and SSP ranks will also benefit from overseas scholarship opportunities, with five officers selected annually. Officials said this program will further enhance administrative and leadership skills within the higher ranks.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Naqvi said the National Police Foundation would be strengthened into a dynamic and effective institution for the welfare of police personnel. He praised the team for turning the Foundation from a deficit into a surplus organisation and expressed confidence that ongoing initiatives would significantly improve the standard of living for officers and their families.
