NESCOM scientists conduct successful trial of Taimoor weapon system on PAF aircraft

Taimoor weapon system

A successful flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System was carried out by the Pakistan Air Force on Saturday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations. The system was developed by scientists at NESCOM. The test marked another significant milestone in strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities and advancing the country’s national aerospace sector.

Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile has high precision at a rate of 600 kilometres. It is capable of engaging the enemy on both land and at sea. It can carry traditional warheads. The system will also be equipped with guidance and state of the art navigation system. Taimoor will be able to fly at very low altitudes. Taimoor will easily evade hostile air and missile defence systems.

The conventional deterrence and operational flexibility of the Pakistan Air Force will be enhanced by its precision-strike capability. The overall defence posture of the country will be further strengthened. The successful flight proves Pakistan’s innovation, technical maturity and self-reliance in defence.

Senior Officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces witnessed the launch. The distinguished engineers and scientists who developed the system also witnessed the launch of the advanced weapon system.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, congratulated the engineers and scientists and the PAF on the remarkable achievement. He lauded their dedication, professional experience and unwavering commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.

It was reaffirmed by the Air Chief that such achievements are proof of the nation’s resolve. The country is moving towards technological self-sufficiency. The country will also be maintaining a credible conventional deterrent in the evolving regional security environment.

This test of the Taimoor Weapon System showcases PAF’s pursuit of technological superiority, operational readiness and national security objectives.

This successful test is similar to the achievement by the Pakistan Navy. In November 2025, the Pakistan Navy conducted a successful flight test of an indigenously developed ship.
