According to the ISPR press release, approximately 15 to 20 terrorists affiliated with the banned outfit Fitna Al Hindustan launched multiple attacks targeting key installations, including the City Police Station, the National Bank of Pakistan, and Habib Bank Limited.
During the assaults, the attackers looted Rs 3.4 million from the two banks. The militants also attempted to create a hostage situation at the City Police Station; however, security forces responded swiftly and successfully thwarted the plan.
Following the attacks, security forces engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat. A subsequent clearance operation was launched in which 12 terrorists were killed in three separate engagements.
Security forces have cordoned off the surrounding areas, and a sanitisation operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining militants and ensure the safety of civilians.
Comprehensive counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” as approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue with full force. The campaign aims to eradicate the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country, the sources added.
