The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has made birth registration process much simpler with an online facility via its Pak-ID mobile application. The citizens may now register the birth of their children from home by submitting applications to their respective Union Councils (UCs) to dispense with the need for repeated visits to these Councils in person.
Areas Where the Service is Available
NADRA has clarified that this digital birth registration service is now in full swing in all districts of Punjab. The facility is available at Karachi East, Karachi Central, Naushahro Feroze, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar and Tando Muhammad Khan in Sindh. While in Balochistan, the service has been launched in Quetta district. NADRA has further revealed that work is being done to provide this service to all remaining districts in the country in the upcoming few months.
Step 1: Registering Birth through Pak-ID App
The first step is for users to download the Pak-ID app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store and to log in by creating their account.
From the main dashboard, applicants are supposed to pick out “Provincial Civil Registration Services”, then select the province and then click on the “Birth” option.
Users can either select on the existing name of the child or enter a new name followed by selection of the appropriate district, tehsil and UC.
Once applicants enter the date of birth of the child, they may calculate the fee and start the application.
Step 2: Entering the Child and Parent Information
In case the child already exists in NADRA’s records, applicants can continue by entering B-Form or ID number.
Otherwise, complete details must be given. Information of parents and additional, required information, if any, are then entered.
Step 3: Biometrics, Payment and Submitted
Depending on the age, biometric requirements are different. Children under three are required to give no photograph, those between the age of three and ten years of age are required to supply a live photograph and those over ten are required to have a photograph and fingerprints.
Applicants can choose the address to be printed onto the certificate and can pay fees by a number of digital payment options. Once sent, the birth certificate is available for download from the “ID Wallet” section of the app after it is processed.
