The International Cricket Council (ICC) has failed to convince Bangladesh to visit India for the T20 World Cup, set to be held in February.
A key meeting between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the ICC took place.
During this meeting, the BCB requested that the matches be moved from India.
The BCB said the meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with positive dialogue between the parties. Both sides agreed to continue discussions, the BCB said.
However, for now, BCB has refused to visit India.
Earlier, BCB said, “The board believes that such a step is necessary to safeguard the safety and well-being of Bangladeshi players, team officials, board members, and other stakeholders and to ensure that the team can participate in the tournament in a secure and appropriate environment.”
It is pertinent to mention that Sri Lanka is co-hosting the tournament, but Bangladesh is due to play all four of their group-stage matches in India.
Bangladesh T20 World Cup group fixtures:
v West Indies: February 7, Kolkata
v Italy: February 9, Kolkata
v England: February 14, Kolkata
v Nepal: February 17, Mumbai
Bangladesh will be led by Litton Das at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The World Cup will be conducted in February-March, and the Tigers have announced a dangerous squad.
