Due to severe fog the M-2 Motorway has been shut for all types of traffic from Lahore to Kot Momin.
According to Motorway Police officials the Lahore to Sialkot Motorway (M-11) has also been closed because of poor visibility.
As per the officials that the Eastern Bypass has likewise been closed due to fog and traffic on the M-3 Motorway from Faizpur to Samundri and the M-4 Motorway from Pindi Bhattian to Gojra has also been suspended.
They said that the purpose of these closings is to safeguard the safety of lives and property.
The Motorway Police further said that sever fog is prevailing on the National Highway in Lahore, Manga Mandi, Phool Nagar, and Pattoki. Visibility has also fell abruptly in Jambar, Renala Khurd, Okara, Sahiwal, Chichawatni, Kassowal, and Iqbal Nagar.
Due to the closure of motorways, the unexpected traffic burden has shifted to national highways and the Motorway Police are actively working to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The spokesperson warned that patchy fog at some locations on national highways can be very unsafe for driving.
The Motorway Police have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions and to prioritize their own safety and that of others.
Citizens were also advised to obtain the latest weather and road updates before starting their journey and to strictly follow safety precautions.
The motorway police advised travelers to prefer daytime travel during the fog season, noting that the safest time to travel is between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
