Good news for the residents of Karachi, especially those living in Korangi and adjoining areas, as the historic ‘Korangi Causeway’ bridge project will be opened to the public within the next couple of weeks.
The Korangi Causeway Bridge is being constructed at an approved cost of Rs 6,135.6 million.
The bridge has a total length of 1.4 kilometres, including its width, central carriageway and footpaths. Currently the 96 percent of the physical work of the bridge has been completed, while 78 percent of the approved financial allocation has been utilised.
According to media reports, on the directions of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Monitoring and Evaluation team of the Planning and Development Department conducted a detailed inspection of the Korangi Causeway bridge project recently.
The inspection reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to quality, transparency and timely completion of public infrastructure projects.
During the visit, the monitoring team reviewed the construction progress and assessed work standards. Quality assurance measures were examined, including non-destructive testing using a Schmidt hammer to evaluate the durability of construction materials.
