Pakistan will make the final decision regarding participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 on Friday or Monday. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has tweeted this.
Mohsin Naqvi had a productive meeting with the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Briefed him on the ICC matter, and he directed that we resolve it while keeping all options on the table. It was agreed that the final decision will be taken either on Friday or next Monday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Senator Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting in Islamabad regarding participation in the T20 World Cup 2026.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi briefed the Prime Minister and stated that Pakistan fully supports Bangladesh’s position and has presented its case comprehensively at international forums.
It was decided during the meeting to strongly protest to the International Cricket Council (ICC) over Bangladesh’s exclusion from the World Cup. Pakistan will register its protest by sending a formal letter to the ICC.
The meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Senator Mohsin Naqvi concluded afterward, and the PCB Chairman left. Sources said that during the meeting, the PCB Chairman informed the Prime Minister about what he described as the ICC’s double standards, claiming that the ICC applies one set of rules for India and another for other countries.
