Rawalpindi traffic police issues 148,638 Challans in one month

The Rawalpindi Traffic Police have published statistics of traffic violations made in the preceding month, which highlight the efforts taken to enforce the traffic laws and the improved compliance of traffic laws.

However, according to official figures, 148,638 challans were issued in total in Rawalpindi, during the span of a month. In the cases concerning the grave violations of traffic rules, also 178 FIRs were registered.

A spokesperson Rawalpindi Traffic Police said motorcyclists were the top list of violators of traffic during the period.

Action against violation of helmets was also a major focus, 49,205 challans were issued against riders of motorcycles for riding without a helmet. In addition to that, 19,721 challans were issued for driving without a valid driving license.

Violations of one-way traffic rules yielded 17,089 challans and 62,623 challans were registered for other violations of traffic laws.

The spokesperson added that because of effective law enforcement, a considerable decrease in traffic violations was observed last month.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, said better enforcement measures had resulted that 95 percent of citizens are now using helmets.

Further CTO Farhan Aslam shared that the campaign against traffic violations will continue till the current month. He stressed that the aim of law enforcement is not to generate challans but to save the lives of commuters.

He added that challans are just issued to correct and induce compliance with traffic laws. The Rawalpindi Traffic Police, he said, are more focusing on the safety of roads and traffic education to make roads safer for every citizen.

Major roads to remain blocked as Islamabad announces new traffic plan

As the President of Kazakhstan is scheduled to land in Pakistan, major roads in Islamabad will remain closed after ITP announced a new traffic plan.

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued a detailed advisory for today, February 3, 2026, between 5 pm and 6 pm. Traffic will be diverted on main roads, including.

  1. The Expressway, Murree Road, and Club Road.
  2. Traffic pressure will increase on the Express Highway and Faisal Avenue.
  3. Travellers from Rawalpindi to Islamabad should use Rawal Road Rawalpindi, 9th Avenue, Faqeera Api Road, and Srinagar Highway.
  4. Travellers going from Islamabad to Rawalpindi should use Zero Point and Srinagar Highway to 9th Avenue.
  5. Travellers coming and going between Murree/Barakahu and Islamabad should use Korang Road, Bhunngala, Park Road, and Lehtrar Road.
  6. Travellers going from Serena and Barakahu to Rawalpindi should use Park Road Khanna.

If the travellers face any difficulty, they can contact the Traffic Helpline 1915 or dial 15 for any updates. Islamabad Traffic Police officers will be present on the roads for the convenience of citizens.
