The Afghan terrorist group Fitna-ul-Khawarij attacked the Ababeel squad of Bajaur Police on February 25, 2026, Wednesday.
Four police men were martyred, and two of the personnel were injured in this cowardly attack.
The funeral prayers of the martyrs were held at Police Lines Bajaur, attended by top police and civil officials.
The attackers targeted policemen of the Ababeel Squad near the Nawe Kale area shortly before Iftar during the month of Ramzan. The group responsible for this massacre, “Fitna-ul-Khawarij”, was blamed for the assault.
Police said the officers were deployed to protect highways and markets as part of special Ramadan security arrangements.
Policemen martyred, injured in attack
In a statement, Bajaur Police said the officials killed in the attack were Constable Yarzada Khan, Daud Khan, Imran Khan and Siraj Khan.
The injured officers, identified as Irshad Khan and Azizur Rehman, were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar. Officials said they are receiving medical treatment.
A heavy police contingent was sent to the area after the incident. A search operation is underway to trace those responsible.
District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Khalid said the attackers would be brought to justice.
Funeral held with official honours
Funeral prayers for the four officers were held at Police Lines in Bajaur with official honours.
The ceremony was attended by senior police and civil officials, including the Commandant of Bajaur Scouts, the Deputy Commissioner and other local authorities. Elders and members of civil society were also present.
A police contingent presented a salute to the fallen officers, and floral wreaths were placed on their coffins. Special prayers were offered for the victims and for the country’s security.
The bodies were later sent to their hometowns for burial with state honours.
Ongoing security concerns
Bajaur, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa near the Afghan border, has witnessed periodic militant violence in recent years.
Police say patrols and checkpoints have been increased during Ramadan to ensure public safety, especially in busy markets and along major roads.
