Pakistan-Kazakhstan boxing collaboration begins in Islamabad

Pakistan and Kazakhstan have officially begun a boxing partnership after the arrival of two Kazakh boxing coaches in Islamabad to conduct a coaching and athlete development clinic at the Dosty Sports Centre, Pakistan Sports Complex.

The new initiative hopes to bring the two nations together in the boxing ring through training, development programs and the exchange of knowledge.

In a media briefing, the President of the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), Lt Col (R) Nasir Ijaz Tung, along with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, and PBF Secretary Major Irfan Younis, called the program a historic milestone for the future of boxing in Pakistan.

This development follows the earlier signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and Kazakhstan this year.

The MoU aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in sports, especially boxing, while encouraging youth empowerment and strengthening people-to-people connections between the two friendly nations.

On the occasion, PBF President Nasir Tung added that the partnership would promote talent exchange, capacity building, and collaborative training programs, allowing Pakistani boxers and coaches to benefit from Kazakhstan’s internationally recognised boxing framework.

In view of the initiative, he stated, “These agreements are opening new doors for our young athletes. This is not just about boxing, it is about creating a complete ecosystem of shared growth, excellence, friendship and opportunity.”

The agreement says Pakistani boxers will have access to top training facilities, organised preparation for major international competitions, and exposure to elite boxing partners.

While expressing his appreciation, Nasir Tung commented that the federation was excited to welcome esteemed Kazakhstan boxing coaches Damir Budanbekov and Nurzhan Kondybayev, signifying their visit as a crucial step towards restoring Pakistan’s boxing heritage.
