Afghanistan wants fighting to be ‘resolved through dialogue’

Afghanistan’s government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has stated that his government wants “dialogue” with Pakistan to resolve the ongoing fighting.

“We have repeatedly emphasised a peaceful solution, and still want the problem to be resolved through dialogue,” Mujahid said in a news conference.

Afghan government spokesperson Mujahid added that Afghanistan will respond to “every act of Pakistan in Islamabad”. He added that the TTP issue was a “pretext to destabilise the region”, calling it Pakistan’s “domestic issue”. “We have good relations with India, but it is never against Pakistan.”

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s government, said that Pakistan has shown no willingness to resolve issues through dialogue and alleged that reconnaissance aircraft continue to fly over Afghan airspace. Mujahid alleged that Pakistan had “repeatedly requested” a ceasefire the previous night.

On the other hand, Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has stated in an interview with a TV channel that 133 operatives of the Afghan Taliban regime were killed and more than 200 were injured.

According to him, there may be additional casualties among Afghan Taliban forces as a result of Pakistan’s counterattacks. He added that 27 posts of the Afghan Taliban regime were destroyed, and nine were captured.

The minister further claimed that two corps headquarters and three brigade headquarters were destroyed, along with two ammunition depots and one logistics base.

He also stated that three battalion headquarters and two sector headquarters of the Afghan Taliban regime were destroyed during Pakistan’s retaliatory actions.
