Where will new model graveyard be built in Federal Capital?

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to develop a model graveyard at the Pandoriyan site in the Federal Capital, Islamabad.

The relevant department has been instructed to finalise the design of the Pandoriyan Model Graveyard at the earliest.

To ensure convenient access for the public, approach roads will be developed and connected from major adjoining roads leading to the cemetery.

Model Graveyard to be equipped with various facilities

The model graveyard will be equipped with modern and well-planned facilities, including spacious prayer halls for funeral services, designated ablution areas and ample parking space.

Additionally, essential services such as an electric hearse, ambulance facilities, and other necessary arrangements will be provided. A comprehensive CCTV surveillance system will also be installed to ensure security and effective monitoring of the premises.

The developments were shared during a meeting chaired by Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad.

Progress to connect Margalla Avenue with Motorway M-1 reviewed

The meeting reviewed progress on several major infrastructure initiatives, including the project to connect Margalla Avenue with the Motorway M-1. Participants were informed that construction work will begin soon after the bidding process is completed and formally opened.

Discussions were also held regarding a proposed project aimed at addressing traffic congestion at Kashmir Chowk. The meeting was informed that a consultant for the project will be hired in the near future.

The forum further reviewed progress on the construction of the Expressway Service Road (East). It was shared that the tendering process has already been initiated to procure consultancy services for the project.

Traffic management issues from Express Chowk to Aga Khan Avenue also came under discussion. In addition, updates were presented on the proposed construction of Eleventh Avenue, for which an advertisement has been issued to engage a consultant.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed the concerned departments to ensure that Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for all upcoming projects are conducted in a timely and comprehensive manner.
