Khawaja Asif calls for peaceful demonstrations, cautions against damage

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that national unity and stability are Pakistan’s real strength at this time, and urged people to keep their protests peaceful and avoid unrest or damage within the country.

He stated that recent attacks on Iran are extremely regrettable and that he is deeply saddened by them.

In a statement, the Minister stated that Pakistan has supported Iran in every possible diplomatic and moral way.

He added that Pakistan also condemned the attack on Iran at the United Nations and appealed to religious parties and the people of Pakistan to exercise restraint.

The Defence Minister emphasised that it is the responsibility of all citizens to control their emotions.

Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that every citizen of Pakistan is saddened by the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei. He urged citizens not to take the law into their own hands and to protest peacefully.

It is worth mentioning here that protests have erupted in various areas of Karachi over the martyrdom of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Clashes broke out between police and protesters on M.T. Khan Road.

On the other hand, Tehran is in a state of grief and uncertainty after Iranian state media confirmed the martyrdom of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The announcement has prompted nationwide mourning, threats of military retaliation and a sharp escalation of tensions across the Middle East.

Iranian state news agencies reported that Khamenei was martyred during the alleged joint strikes on Iran. Iran announced a seven-day public holiday along with a 40-day national mourning period.
