Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to Iran’s newly elected Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
In the letter, the Prime Minister expressed his condolences over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and conveyed the sympathies and prayers of the people of Pakistan to the brotherly people of Iran and the Muslim Ummah.
According to the text of the letter, the people of Pakistan are deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and stand in solidarity with the leadership and people of Iran during this difficult time.
Congratulates new Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei
The Prime Minister also congratulated the new Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, saying that he extends his congratulations on assuming the responsibilities of the Supreme Leader of Iran and hopes that his leadership will guide the country toward peace, stability, dignity and prosperity in the years ahead.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif further stated that relations between Pakistan and Iran are based on shared faith, history, culture and language.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue working with Iran and to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both brotherly countries.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a two-week holiday for all schools, along with an additional weekly holiday, as part of measures to save fuel.
In his address to the nation, the Prime Minister stated that schools will observe a two-week holiday starting at the end of this week, and online classes will be introduced for all higher education institutions.
He further announced that government departments will have their petrol allocation reduced by 50 per cent for two months. Petrol supplies for ambulances and public buses will not be affected.
