Pakistan, on Thursday, restated its request for verifiable assurances from Kabul that its territory would not be used for terrorist activities directed against Pakistan.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated, “As such guarantees have not been provided, Pakistan will maintain its current policy.”

He further mentioned that Islamabad reserves the right to respond in self-defence to cross-border assaults.

The spokesperson also confirmed that two Pakistani citizens had tragically lost their lives in the United Arab Emirates amid the ongoing Middle East and Pak Afghan conflict.

He noted that Pakistan’s missions in the UAE had facilitated the repatriation of the deceased and were providing support to the grieving families.

Additionally, he indicated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had activated its Crisis Management Unit, which operates continuously.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s diplomatic missions throughout the region have set up facilitation desks, helplines, and registration portals to assist stranded Pakistani citizens with travel arrangements and consular services.
