Federal information minister Attaullah Tarar has clarified that the sons of Imran Khan do not require visas to visit Pakistan, responding to his former wife Jemima Goldsmith.
Tarar stated that Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan, as Pakistani citizens, can travel to the country using their NICOP cards without needing visas. However, he added that they would be required to follow all applicable laws during their stay.
His remarks came after Jemima appealed to Shehbaz Sharif, requesting that their sons be allowed to visit their father, who is currently imprisoned.
The minister also confirmed that a phone call between Imran Khan and his sons would be arranged on Eid.
In her statement, Jemima expressed frustration over delays in visa processing, claiming that her sons had applied in January but had yet to receive a response even after 60 days, despite standard processing times being much shorter. She also said the children have been unable to communicate with their father and have not seen him since 2022.
Imran Khan has been in custody since August 2023 and is currently held at Adiala Jail in connection with a £190 million corruption case. He also faces additional legal proceedings related to the May 9, 2023 protests.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was allowed a phone call with his sons, Kasim Khan and Suleiman Isa Khan.
The Supreme Court (SC) ordered that Imran be allowed to speak to his children.
It was ordered that both the eye inspection and the phone calls be conducted before February 16 (Monday).
Imran Khan was diagnosed with a serious eye condition known as Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO), a disorder that commonly affects older adults and is linked to underlying cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart disease.
