Sweden provides a large number of scholarships for international students, including students from Pakistan, at the undergraduate and master’s level.
These scholarships are from the Swedish government as well as top universities and many of them contain full tuition grants, monthly allowances and travel allowance.
Among the most prominent opportunities is the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) which is entirely funded and allows for a monthly stipend of SEK 11,000 but also covers tuition fees and travel support.
Another major opportunity is the Swedish Institute Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship, providing a higher amount, about SEK 12,000 and the aim is women that are studying in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics get a chance to study at prestigious universities.
There is also generous funding from top universities in Sweden. The KTH Scholarship at the Royal Institute of Technology offers full tuition fees, the Stockholm Trio Scholarship and Stockholm University Scholarship Scheme also provide full tuition support.
Similarly, the Global Master’s Scholarship, which is a fully funded option for international students from Karolinska Institute.
Other famous partially or fully funded scholarships include Malmo University Excellence Scholarship, Axel Adler Scholarship at the University of Gothenburg, Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Scholarship and Andren Lunings Stipendiestiftelse offering an annual stipend of around SEK 90,000.
In addition to this, there are also several universities such as Uppsala University, Lund University, Umea University, Linkoping University, Orebro University, Dalarna University, Halmstad University, Linnaeus University and Kristianstad University which offer their own merit-based or tuition-waiver-based scholarships.
These awards vary in coverage but generally are aimed at lowering or removing tuition costs for high achieving international students.
Overall, Sweden is a competitive and attractive country in terms of funding opportunities for internationally eligible students; in addition to government-funded programs, there are opportunities to receive scholarships directly through the universities themselves.
