Details of the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the MQM-P delegation have surfaced, highlighting key political developments.
During the meeting, the MQM-P delegation called for the early introduction of the 28th amendment on local governments and urged the Prime Minister to initiate consultations with all political parties. The MQM-P delegation led by party convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
According to media reports, MQM also pushed for the inclusion of its proposed constitutional amendment within the 28th Amendment framework. The delegation stressed that, given the evolving regional situation, their proposal is both timely and necessary.
The Prime Minister described MQM’s demands as legitimate and scheduled another meeting for next week to further discuss them.
The Prime Minister instructed newly appointed Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi to ensure that the MQM has no complaints in the province.
The MQM also complained that it was not being taken into confidence on important decisions within the coalition. In response, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to support MQM at every key step.
During the meeting, the MQM delegation also requested that work on the Karachi package be expedited, stating that the city’s law and order situation and infrastructure are in poor condition.
Prime Minister described the change of governor in Sindh as a political decision and said that Kamran Tesori had been a very active governor.
