PM Shehbaz rejects summary to increase petrol prices by Rs95 per litre

Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif adressed nation today, on Friday, regarding the current situation.

Pakistan is trying to prevent a potential conflict between Iran and the United States (US), PM Shehbaz said.

The country aims to save the region from destructive war and its negative effects, he added.

He said that the country is actively engaging in diplomatic efforts and working to provide relief to its people. Pakistan has also held detailed talks with leaders of Iran and Gulf countries to discuss the situation.

The chief of defence forces and the ceif or army staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, is playing an active and key role in the success of the reconciliation process, the PM further added.

He is playing a key role in this process as the world is currently facing an extraordinary and difficult situation, he said, adding that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts are not just an international effort but a religious duty.

The Prime Minister said that Ishaq Dar is also working with all his heart and sincerity.

Petrol prices

PM Shehbaz rejected the summary to increase petrol prices by Rs95 per litre and diesel by Rs203.

He said that petrol should have been Rs544 per litre, but the government is giving it to the people for Rs322.

Additionally, he added, the price of diesel should have been Rs790 per litre; the government is providing it to people for Rs335.

The Prime Minister said that the government will bear the burden of 56 billion rupees itself.

“For me, there is nothing but the economic security of the people,” he said.

“Petrol prices have doubled in countries around the world. The government has prevented this storm of inflation from reaching the people. The government cannot fight this struggle alone,” the PM stated.
