A group of Iran linked hackers said they had accessed FBI Director Kash Patel’s personal email, according to reports on Friday. They posted photos of Kash Patel and other documents online.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the primary domestic intelligence and law enforcement agency of the United States (US). He is the director of the agency.
FBI Director Kash Patel hacked
The hackers, calling themselves Handala Hack Team, said, “Today, once again, the world witnessed the collapse of America’s so-called security legends.”
On their website, the message added, “Kash Patel, the current head of the FBI, who once saw his name displayed with pride on the agency’s headquarters, will now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims.”
“The so-called ‘impenetrable’ systems of the FBI were brought to their knees within hours by our team. All personal and confidential information of Kash Patel, including emails, conversations, documents, and even classified files, is now available for public download,” it further added.
They shared personal photos of him smoking cigars, riding in an old convertible, and taking a selfie with a large bottle of rum.
A Justice Department official confirmed that Patel’s email had been breached and said the material online appeared real.
The FBI did not respond to requests for comment, Reuters reported, further adding that the hackers also did not reply to messages.
Iran linked ‘Handala’ group
Handala describes itself as a pro Palestinian hacker group. Western researchers believe it may be linked to Iranian government cyber units.
The group recently claimed it hacked Michigan medical company Stryker and deleted a large amount of company data.
However, the Gmail address claimed to be hacked matches one previously linked to Patel in past data breaches, according to dark web researchers, Reuters further reported.
Some of the material shared online appears to include a mix of personal and work emails from 2010 to 2019.

Who is Kash Patel?
According to online sources, Kashyap Pramod Patel was born on February 25, 1980, in Garden City, New York.
He is the son of Pramod Rameshchandra Patel, a Gujarati Indian Ugandan.
Kashyap Pramod Patel is an American lawyer serving since 2025 as the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Patel also served as acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from February to April 2025.
