Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the country currently has an adequate supply of petroleum products, attributing this stability to recent government decisions.
Chairing a high-level meeting, the premier reviewed measures to promote fuel conservation and financial discipline in light of the evolving regional situation.
He emphasised that providing relief to the public remains the government’s top priority. Over the past three weeks, authorities have taken multiple steps to ease the burden on citizens.
To prevent a rise in oil prices, the federal government allocated Rs. 125 billion, which was managed through cuts in savings and development expenditures.
The Prime Minister reiterated that efforts will continue to balance economic stability with public relief amid ongoing challenges. Shehbaz Sharif stated that, as a result of government decisions, there is an adequate supply of petroleum products to meet the country’s needs.
He urged the public to support the government’s conservation campaign by avoiding unnecessary travel and prioritising teleconferencing in offices and workplaces.
The Prime Minister also directed provincial governments to facilitate motorcycle and rickshaw owners in registering their vehicles in their own names. This initiative aims to digitise data on motorcycles and rickshaws nationwide, enabling owners to benefit from government relief measures.
The meeting, held via video link, was attended by Ishaq Dar, along with federal ministers Ahad Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ali Pervez Malik, Atta Tarar, Mosaddeq Malik, Ahsan Iqbal, Shaza Fatima, and Owais Leghari. Governor of the State Bank, Jamil Ahmed, and other senior government officials were also present.
