Govt launches new project to identify, enrol out of school children

A new initiative has been launched in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to expand education opportunities for thousands of children in the region, according to the details on Monday.

The initiative is titled “Out of School Children Project” and is supported by the Islamic Development Bank.

It was signed on January 19, 2026, according to documents available with Wealth Pakistan.

The 10 million dollar project is an important step to improve access to education in the region.

The project will be carried out by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department of AJK. Additionally, it is expected to start operations soon.

The main focus of the project is to identify children who are not attending school and connect them with learning opportunities.

This will be done through better school facilities, community outreach, and special enrollment campaigns.

The initiative also aims to strengthen the capacity of schools so they can enrol and retain more students.

Govt issues new timetable for public schools

Separately, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a new timetable for public schools across the province.

According to an official notification issued in Peshawar, attendance in primary schools will begin at 7:30 AM, while school dismissal will take place at 1:35 PM.

The new schedule makes moral training activities mandatory for students. Schools have been directed to organise speeches, practical activities, and sessions focusing on character building and ethical education during assemblies.

Govt to train teachers for new E-marking system

In another development, the KP government is set to train teachers on e marking in educational boards.

In this regard, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Swat will also design training workshops in different educational boards in the province.

This is meant to help with the marking rubrics that will be used to assess examination papers on the e marking system. It will also help improve the professional capacity of teachers.
