Prominent Pakistani actors Maya Ali and Hania Aamir have publicly supported fellow actor Yumna Zaidi after she was allegedly subjected to age related remarks by Javeria Saud during a television show.
However, Saud later apologised and clarified that her remarks were not for anyone in particular.
Yumna Zaidi and Javeria Saud controversy
The controversy began when Javeria Saud shared a childhood photograph on her program and claimed it showed Yumna Zaidi.
While laughing and making comments, she joked that some actors had been working since “the stone age” before gaining recognition.
Yumna Zaidi later clarified on social media that the image did not belong to her. She urged media outlets to verify information before broadcasting it publicly.

Maya Ali reacts
Reacting to the situation, Maya Ali posted a detailed story on Instagram.
She expressed disappointment that members of the entertainment industry sometimes make fun of one another on public platforms.
She questioned when the industry would begin to respect its own talent. She said that artists dedicate their lives to their craft, making such public criticism particularly hurtful.
Maya Ali also urged media channels to act responsibly when sharing content.

Hania Aamir reacts
Hania Aamir shared this sentiment by reposting Maya Ali’s statement on her Instagram story, with a caption “What she said!”
Her post was widely seen as a show of solidarity with Yumna Zaidi.

Netizens react
Netizens have also spoken up in favour of Yuma Zaidi. They say she is an elegant actress.

Javeria Saud clarifies
Following the backlash, Javeria Saud issued a public apology. She explained that the photograph had been taken from social media without verification and said she had no intention of mocking or hurting anyone.
She added that her comments were misunderstood and stressed that she holds Yumna Zaidi in high regard.
Javeria Saud later apologised and wrote, “Due to some online confusion and misinformation, our team came across this picture on social media and used it without proper verification. I truly regret this and sincerely apologise. Yumna, you have always been very close to my heart. I have immense love and respect for you and your work.”
“As for the age related comment, it has unfortunately been misunderstood. I was referring to a different context about a time period of work, not about anyone’s age. It was a general remark and was never intended for anyone in particular,” she further added.

Other celebrities speak up
Other actors have also commented on the ongoing situation. Actor Nameer Khan highlighted the lack of respect within the industry.
Director Umair Nasir Ali, who has worked with Yumna Zaidi in the past, shared an actual childhood photo of Zaidi. He added, “Respect begins with getting the facts right, JS.”
