The Punjab Wildlife Department has officially ended the waterfowl hunting season and imposed a province-wide ban on all hunting activities. Authorities enforced the restriction as the breeding season began, aiming to protect bird populations across the province.
A spokesperson for the department said that hunting was previously allowed from October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, under strict regulations. During this period, hunters were permitted to hunt only on Saturdays and Sundays.
With the season now over, officials have taken strict measures to ensure the ban is implemented. Authorities warned that anyone found hunting ducks or other waterfowl will face legal action.
Wildlife teams have been deployed to increase monitoring in wetlands and other key areas to prevent violations. The department stressed that the ban is necessary to protect birds during their breeding cycle and to maintain ecological balance.
Officials have urged the public to cooperate and report any illegal hunting activities.
