The government doctors are now banned under the Chief Minister’s Cardiac Surgery Program from working in the private hospitals that are on the panel of Sehat Card.
The new system was implemented under the Chief Minister’s Cardiac Surgery Program, the private media channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the instructions issued by the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company, government cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, anesthetists and multidisciplinary doctors will not be able to serve in any private hospital.
The decision is aimed at better managing the patient load in government hospitals and reducing waiting lists.
According to the issued notification, additional operations have been allowed during the evening shift in government cardiac hospitals, and a share of Rs 50,000 will be paid for each surgery after 2 pm, while the government will also bear the cost of medicines and other equipment.
It has been clarified that the evening shift will be for additional capacity building, while full utilisation of available resources will be ensured in the morning shift. Instructions have been sent to the heads of nine major hospitals, including PIC Lahore, RIC Rawalpindi, and FIC Faisalabad.
