Islamabad: After NCCIA Deputy Director’s Abduction, His Wife Disappears Too

After the alleged kidnapping of NCCIA director the wife also goes missing

ISLAMABAD: The wife of the allegedly kidnapped Deputy Director of the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Wing, National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Muhammad Usman, has also gone missing, her lawyer told the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.

During the hearing, Advocate Raja Rizwan Abbasi, counsel for Rozina Usman, informed the court that his client, who had filed a petition over her husband’s abduction, could not be reached.

“I don’t know where the petitioner is. I fear she has also been taken away,” the lawyer said. He added that Rozina had earlier called him, saying she was being pressured to withdraw her petition.

The lawyer noted that Deputy Director Usman was working on several sensitive cases and was allegedly kidnapped in a white car. “Now, the petitioner’s phone is also switched off, and there is no contact with her,” Abbasi told the court.

Muhammad Usman was abducted from Islamabad on Saturday. His wife, Rozina, had lodged a complaint at the Shams Colony Police Station after travelling from Lahore when she failed to reach him. She stated that four armed men kidnapped her husband from his residence in Sector H-13 on October 14.

Rozina said her husband was serving as Deputy Director (Operations) at the NCCIA and investigating important cybercrime cases.

COURT GIVES THREE-DAY DEADLINE TO POLICE

The Islamabad High Court has directed the police to recover the missing officer within three days.

Justice Muhammad Azam Khan warned that if the police fail to do so, the NCCIA’s central officials and Islamabad’s Inspector General will have to appear in person before the court.

“You should recover him; otherwise, we’ll start doing what other benches are doing,” Justice Azam remarked, instructing the police to obtain the call data record (CDR) of numbers used to pressure the petitioner.
