The Sindh government has announced a massive relief for motorcycle riders after the recent hike in petrol prices, with a subsidy of Rs2000 to be provided for one month.
Speaking at a press conference, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the decision was taken in view of rising fuel prices and the broader economic impact of the ongoing Iran conflict on the region and the global economy.
He said that Pakistan has also been affected by the situation, as international oil prices continue to rise, adding pressure on local fuel prices. He added that all provinces have made preparations according to their respective circumstances to tackle the economic challenges.
Murad Ali Shah said the targeted subsidy programme would consist of multiple components to provide relief to lower-income segments. He also assured that railway fares for the lower class would not be increased.
The chief minister revealed that around 6.7 million motorcycles are registered in Sindh, and only verified motorcycle owners will be eligible for the subsidy. He requested citizens to ensure that their motorcycles are registered in their names through the excise department’s website to qualify for the financial assistance.
Under the scheme, the subsidy amount will be directly transferred to eligible and verified motorcycle riders, providing temporary relief amid rising fuel costs.
Petrol price in Pakistan today 2026
Prices of petroleum products have gone up from Rs322 per litre to Rs458.40 paisa per litre today.
The diesel prices have been increased to Rs520.35 paisa. The new prices will be applicable from tomorrow.
The petrol price has increased by Rs136.83 per litre. Additionally, high-speed diesel price increased by Rs184.14 per litre.

On the other hand, consumers can reduce their fuel expenses by using various petrol discount cards and digital payment options offering cashback and rewards.
To benefit from petrol price discounts, motorists can use dedicated fuel loyalty cards such as GO Cards, which provide reward points, cashless transactions, and savings at over 150 fuel stations nationwide.
Several banks are also offering fuel discount card options, including the HBL FuelSaver Credit Card, which provides up to 5% cashback on fuel purchases, and Standard Chartered’s Xtra Mile account, designed specifically for petrol savings.
