Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Istanbul, Türkiye, on an official visit at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Upon his arrival at Atatürk Airport, he was welcomed by Türkiye’s Minister of Trade, Dr Omer Bolat, along with senior officials from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Pakistani Embassy.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, are accompanying the Prime Minister during the visit.
During his stay in Istanbul, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are expected to hold comprehensive talks on all aspects of Pakistan-Türkiye bilateral relations, with a focus on further strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address a business conference organised by Pakistan, aimed at strengthening economic and commercial ties between the two countries.
It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, earlier on Friday arrived in Tehran with a high-level Pakistani delegation to attend the funeral ceremony of Iran’s Supreme Leader, martyred Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Upon their arrival at the Grand Imam Khomeini Shrine in Tehran, the delegation was warmly received by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
The Pakistani leadership also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the shrine and expressed their profound sorrow and condolences over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and members of the delegation offered Fateha for the late Supreme Leader and paid tribute to his services to the Muslim Ummah. During the visit, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also held a separate meeting with Iran’s Minister of Defence.
