The Sindh government has announced a two day holiday for the Christian community on the occasion of Easter. The decision was shared in an official notification issued on Friday.
Christian employees working in provincial government departments will be given holidays on April 5 and 6 to celebrate the festival.
Easter is one of the most important religious events for the Christian community. People celebrate it every year with faith and devotion.
Special services are also held at different places. Members of the Christian community attend prayers for salvation and for the progress and prosperity.
Authorities have increased security across the country to maintain law and order during the occasion.
In a separate statement, Punjab Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique said that strict security arrangements are being ensured across the province during the Holy Week of the Christian community.
HEC issues weekly holiday schedule
All public and private colleges and universities across Punjab will operate on campus for four working days a week, from Monday to Thursday, under the latest directive issued by the provincial authorities, according to a notification issued.
The notification clarifies that academic activities will continue during these days.
In addition, any examinations already scheduled will be held as per the previously announced timetable without any changes.
Earlier, the Sindh government also announced a public holiday on April 4. The holiday was observed across the province on the anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. An official notification was issued for this as well.
Additionally, the district administration in Sahiwal announced a local holiday on April 1, 2026.
The holiday was observed across all revenue limits of the district for the annual Urs of Hazrat Baba Muhammad Pannah.
According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq, the local holiday was announced to ensure full public participation in the Urs celebrations.
