Naqvi predicts PSL will top global cricket leagues soon

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Naqvi has expressed strong confidence in the future of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), stating that it is on track to become the world’s number one cricket league.

Speaking during the 82nd meeting of the PCB Board of Governors, chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, key developments regarding the board’s operations and financial standing were discussed.

The board formally approved the audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2024–25. Naqvi highlighted the rapid growth and increasing global appeal of the PSL, emphasising its emergence as a strong platform for investment and cricketing excellence.

The meeting marks another step forward in PCB’s efforts to strengthen governance, transparency, and the international profile of Pakistan’s premier T20 league.

The board also approved PCB’s procedural rules in line with the International Cricket Council (ICC) Global Anti-Corruption Code.

In addition, discussions included cooperation with the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation to develop a cricket stadium in Jeddah, as well as the re-demarcation of Lahore’s cricket zones and a review of their names based on geographical boundaries.

The board expressed appreciation for the record-breaking team auction for PSL Season 11. While addressing the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said that PSL has become an attractive investment market and emphasised that it is on track to become the world’s leading cricket league.

The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Governors, the PSL CEO, and other officials. Former cricketer Zaheer Abbas and the Cabinet Secretary also participated online.
